What our clients say
Carlie was fantastic to work with and helped us design a new kitchen and bathrooms where the design was beautiful and functional but remained sympathetic to its midcentury heritage. Carlie is super helpful and a lovely person to deal with. Highly recommend.

Working with Carlie from Hygge Design was an absolute pleasure and we felt comfortable from the minute we met her! Her passion for design is contagious and her knowledge of products and options available is impressive. We were informed and consulted from the initial design meeting taking us through the entire process seamlessly till completion. Carlie’s honest open communication made a sometimes stressful procedure a pleasure with the end result a cool coastal retreat to be enjoyed by us all for years to come’.

'Carlie and her team allowed us to take our time to check and test our designs, focusing on the functionality of the space. She allowed us to make many small tweaks before finalising the design and made us feel unpressured to lock things in until we were completely happy. Carlie's project management made us feel like the project was for her own home, the way she took so much care over the details. Given that our project took place during the Covid lock down, she was fantastic in coordinating all the various services and trades and managing small changes to fixtures and fittings as we went. If you are looking for a collaborative and stress-free project, we can highly recommend Carlie and her team.'

We now have an awesome kitchen and a better connection to the outdoors, thanks to the coffee window that was designed. We love how the whole home feels like us. We received constant support throughout the whole process with Hygge Design, more than I thought, such as liaising regarding appliances. You're ace!

Through the use of perfectly chosen colours throughout, both in walls and ceilings but also in features such as flooring, cabinetry and tiles, the transformation of our home is nothing short of amazing.

Highlighting the roof form from bare timber lining boards and beams to a now light, modern form that shows the internal detail of the structure, by matching the colour of the beams to the flooring, then the lining boards white, Hygge design not only brightened the living space but somehow lifted the ceiling.

The bathroom floor plan now makes sense and seems to have more space and storage, lighter and safer.

Beautiful brushed nickel fixtures modernise the spaces and perfectly chosen carpet and oak flooring make the home warm and comfortable.

The white walls and fixed panel windows & stacker doors now highlight what is the hero of the house, it's surrounds, the ocean has never looked bluer.

But by far the biggest transformation is the kitchen.

Through clever floor plan design, it now invites you in, it includes everyone through an open plan and island bench, it's organic tone and warm feeling makes any owner/guest feel calm and comfortable.

Hygge Design exceeded the brief, as we never visualised that this result was a possibility.

As we look to settle down in retirement here, this renovation experience has been quite easy and stress free, through their understanding of us as clients, but most of all communication, it put us at ease when issues (as they do in renovating) arose.

The result speaks for itself.

The additions provided by Hygge Design, particularly those in the living space, have truly transformed the experience of our new home. We definitely have a nice space here in part due to the great connection with nature through the windows. But the Hygge additions are a quantum leap. Nina said she never thought that “she’d ever live in a home like this”. The additions provided by Hygge include the sofa - great color choice, the wonderful falcon chairs and the beautiful rug. But also the amazing bookshelf- in effect, the great result with cabinetry has been achieved through a cabinet maker introduced to us through Hygge.

Hygge Design helped us save lots of time while providing guidance with quality decisions. Not only did having their help make it possible (I don’t think we would have gotten here without their help), we ended up with a quality result that was above our expectations. We really love our home.

We really appreciate that Hygge Design were committed to an overall well-decorated home. We felt that they truly partnered with us. (As opposed to just providing a series of services)

Meraki Kitchen engaged the services of Hygge Design to create our new ‘café’ space. Our business is quite unique as we focus on creating; home-cooked, handmade meals, catering, cooking classes, online meal delivery and now a cafe. We were needing to replicate that homely feel in a large commercial space with the main element being the kitchen yet we also required a space that connected our kitchen to a community ‘cafe’ space. We really wanted our new space to feel unique that also focused on our business values of; Community, Connection and Wholesome Living.

At the time we begun working with Carlie and Agi, we were incredibly busy so we were after someone we could trust to essentially, do it all for us. Not only did they do that, they went above and beyond our expectations.

Carlie and Agi worked very hard on understanding our brand, our offerings and our community to get a greater sense of what we not only required but what would work best. They made incredible suggestions that have enhanced the space to make it feel better than we could have ever imagined. They understood that we value natural, organic materials that are durable and with the amount of foot traffic we now have, they have exceeded expectations on all fronts.

When you run a business, you often make hundreds of decisions a day and when undertaking a project like this one, where we re-branded, designed and created a whole new space that hasn’t been seen before, it could have been easy to take short cuts to reduce workload or questions for trades for example. However, Carlie and Agi always had our best interests at heart and would go above and beyond for every decision that was made. They sourced unique, yet cost effective furniture. They went to various cafes to learn more about the workflow of hospitality businesses. They put in all of the effort that we simply didn’t have the time or to be honest, the desire to go the extra mile for. They did and it is an absolute credit to Hygge Design and now, an amazing benefit to Meraki Kitchen, as people comment daily on how functional, yet beautiful our space is.

When contracting a business to engage with any form of design/build/renovation, you want to hire someone who treats it like their own. Carlie and Agi from Hygge Design not only did that, they treated it better than we ever could have which has resulted in a finished design that is greater than we could have ever imagined. We couldn’t recommend Hygge Design highly enough.
