Church House
Inspired by nature and surrounding bayside, our clients’ brief was to better connect to their garden and to each other, whilst being able to cook,
Meraki Kitchen engaged the services of Hygge Design to create our new ‘café’ space. Our business is quite unique as we focus on creating; home-cooked, handmade meals, catering, cooking classes, online meal delivery and now a cafe. We were needing to replicate that homely feel in a large commercial space with the main element being the kitchen yet we also required a space that connected our kitchen to a community ‘cafe’ space. We really wanted our new space to feel unique that also focused on our business values of; Community, Connection and Wholesome Living.
At the time we begun working with Carlie and Agi, we were incredibly busy so we were after someone we could trust to essentially, do it all for us. Not only did they do that, they went above and beyond our expectations.
Carlie and Agi worked very hard on understanding our brand, our offerings and our community to get a greater sense of what we not only required but what would work best. They made incredible suggestions that have enhanced the space to make it feel better than we could have ever imagined. They understood that we value natural, organic materials that are durable and with the amount of foot traffic we now have, they have exceeded expectations on all fronts.
When you run a business, you often make hundreds of decisions a day and when undertaking a project like this one, where we re-branded, designed and created a whole new space that hasn’t been seen before, it could have been easy to take short cuts to reduce workload or questions for trades for example. However, Carlie and Agi always had our best interests at heart and would go above and beyond for every decision that was made. They sourced unique, yet cost effective furniture. They went to various cafes to learn more about the workflow of hospitality businesses. They put in all of the effort that we simply didn’t have the time or to be honest, the desire to go the extra mile for. They did and it is an absolute credit to Hygge Design and now, an amazing benefit to Meraki Kitchen, as people comment daily on how functional, yet beautiful our space is.
When contracting a business to engage with any form of design/build/renovation, you want to hire someone who treats it like their own. Carlie and Agi from Hygge Design not only did that, they treated it better than we ever could have which has resulted in a finished design that is greater than we could have ever imagined. We couldn’t recommend Hygge Design highly enough.
